AFTERNOON TEA WITH HUMANS
Towards the last years of university I realised that studying art doesn't only give you the right tools and knowledge that are necessary to create great pieces but also makes you want to be the best. I realised very quickly that all students are in a race towards success and material satisfaction. During this race however, most find themselves having lost their dedication to the pure meaning of art.
I moved to a different country and didn't paint for 5 years, I hid for a very long time until I finally had the courage to pick up a brush again. I have made it my life mission to stay true to the art and have observed the outside world with great sadness as not only artists but more and more people are climbing a meningless ladder for a higher seat to nothing.
The paintings from this collection portray 5 very long years of observing the outside world as well as remembering my old self. The shock, the disgust, the disappointment that the experinece cause can be seen in every brushstroke. New friends, new relationship, a new life go hand in hand with the pain of a past life and they start dancing together in the background. The old world that the sleeping man remembers lets the dancers create a new psychedelic thetre on the canvas. Reborn.
